Apple doesn’t have a death wish for gambling apps after all.
At least not in parts of Europe.
According to iGaming Business, Swedish operator association Branschföreningen för Onlinespel (BOS) says “Apple is to reinstate gambling applications for a number of major operators to the country’s App Store.”
That’s the report out of Europe today.
Previously, Apple had begun dumping apps earlier this spring following complains from regulators in the region. Specifically, Apple was told that “unlicensed operators were targeting players in Sweden.”
But following subsequent review and testimony, key apps were found to be compliant and eligible for reinstatement.
“It is with great satisfaction we can now put this sad history behind us,” Gustaf Hoffstedt, secretary general of BOS, is quoted in the report.
