Business Booming for Casino App BusinessDespite a barrage of reports that online gambling revenue and growth underwhelmed in 2014, there’s no denying the surging popularity in mobile casino apps available across the U.S. and world at large today.

According to new information released by App Annie, expenditures on mobile casino games for Apple’s iOS platform alone jumped 55% year-over-year.

The market is worth $2.7 billion today, and that’s almost exclusively social-casino games in which players can’t win real money.

But as VentureBeat points out, that reality is beginning to change in places like the U.K. and even Australia, where real money mobile gambling is no longer taboo and quickly reaching the legalized mainstream market.

In fact, the digital gambling industry is poised to hit $100 billion in revenue within two years.

“For comparison,” the report adds, “mobile gaming was only worth about $21 billion in 2014, and console gaming generates around $55 billion in spending.”
