Disjointed registration and authentication processes hinder the opportunity to use mobile as a brand acquisition and engagement tool, while resistance from banks and credit card issuers to honor online gambling transactions is also controversial.”

Gibraltar is challenging the UKGC, claiming that the new legislation is not being put in place for consumer protection but only as a way to generate additional revenue.

On top of the initial £19,500 online casinos must pay for their new license, they must also pay an annual fee of £118,000. In addition, they will be subject to a 15% Point of Consumption tax.
