Closed for Business Betfair Shuts Down NJ Poker SiteIf you were hoping to play online poker on Betfair’s site in New Jersey today, you’re out of luck.

Betfair has officially closed its New Jersey poker site.

According to the online gaming giant, however, the closure has nothing to do with its New Jersey casino site or other operations outside of the U.S.

“The Betfair online poker room was considered a non-factor in the New Jersey market, even though it offered a first deposit bonus that was equivalent to 40 percent rakeback,” says John Mehaffey of U.S. Poker.com. “It also offered a VIP program with a top tier of 20 percent rakeback.”

Sadly, as the report notes, Betfair New Jersey “posted $0 in October 2014 poker rake,” based on information shared with the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement.
