Crackdown Continues on Off-Shore GamblingEach state that has legalized online gambling is cracking down on off-shore infringement. This is due to concerns of lost revenues as well as concerns for consumer safety. However, it is more than just off-shore gambling that is of concern, but also for off-shore casinos who design their online gambling sites to look as if they are associated with well-established live and online casinos.

In a recent announcement, the Las Vegas Sands shared that they are suing 35 Chinese web domains on multiple counts, including trademark infringement, false designation of origin, and common law unfair competition. This will be a Federal lawsuit processed through the United States District Court for the District of Nevada.

The 35 casinos being sued have utilized graphics, web design, and web content that makes their sites appear to be affiliated with the Sands casino. In fact, the graphics they are using are an exact match to what the Sands uses. This is highly deceptive, particularly since the average online gambler does not know how to tell if an online casino is regulated, or is based off-shore.

One of the many challenges to this lawsuit is that the domains are registered anonymously, so identifying the source is of great priority. While not all 35 online casinos are affiliated, it is expected that most of them are.

To ensure you are gambling at a regulated online casino in the state of Nevada, you can visit the Nevada Gaming Control Board for an updated list of all approved casinos.
