Massachusetts Gets Physical Is iGaming NextWhile many states are still trying to determine if regulated online gambling is a good fit, the state of Massachusetts just opened their first live casino. On June 24, 2015, the Plainridge Park Casino opened their doors in southeastern Massachusetts.

The casino has high expectations to generate $82 million for the State of Massachusetts in their first fiscal year. And of that goes well, iGaming could be next say sources in the state legislature.

WCVB.com reports that, so far, things are off to a great start with over $6 million in slots their first week, but it is still too early to determine if they will achieve their expected revenues of $200 million their first fiscal year. The first week alone generated around $2.5 million in revenues for the state of Massachusetts.

Three other casino projects are underway, but they are facing challenges. The MGM Springfield has run into one construction challenge after another, pushing back opening to at least September of 2018. The Wynn Everett is trying to obtain environmental approval for their waterfront location before their construction can begin. Last but not least, the cities of New Bedford and Brockton are competing for the final resort license in Massachusetts.
