According to a slew of gambling industry watchers, the era of the scratch-off lottery ticket is fast fading.
Although mobile and desktop alternatives are not yet possible across the U.S., it is believed they one day will be, and not just because of the ease and convenience of modern digital gaming.
Eco-friendly gaming advocates also have their sights set on phasing out scratch-off lotto tickets. And their influence is being observed more and more today.
Sales for instant lottery tickets have slowly been on the decline over the last several years. In an effort to revamp the business, Pollard Banknote Limited, for example, shared their innovative new instant lottery tickets at the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries’ (“NASPL”) 2014 Annual Conference and Trade Show last week.
Their two latest instant lottery tickets are the Flip Scratch and Eco Scratch.
Flip Scratch has a fun pop-up window, and traditional scratch games, making it essentially two games in one. Eco Scratch is made from 60% recycled materials and looks a bit like a brown paper bag. This allows for a “green” way to play instant lotto.
Pollard Banknote Limited has long been an innovator in instant lotto tickets, and they are eager to give the gaming world a firsthand look at their new tickets – which may represent yet another nail in the coffin of traditional scratch-off lotto tickets.
