NJ Regs Begin Reviewing Amaya Gaming GroupAs we first reported last week, Amaya Gambling from Montreal, Canada has acquired the largest online poker room in the world, Poker Stars. The Isle of Man-based business, operating as the Rational Group Ltd., agreed to be acquired by Amaya Gaming Group Inc. for an estimated $4.9 billion dollars.

Consequently, we have now learned that New Jersey gaming regulators have begun the review process of the company, which is aiming to be licensed for business in Atlantic City before year’s end.

“The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement says Amaya Gaming Group has begun submitting documents required for a determination on whether PokerStars can be licensed in New Jersey,” the Las Vegas Sun reports.

Regulators, in the coming days, weeks, and months, will review every aspect of Amaya’s proposed corporate structure for the platform it intends to acquire.

Given that PokerStars has unsuccessfully attempted on more than one occasion to get licensed in New Jersey, nothing will be certain until the regulators formally grant the long sought after license.
