Online, Mobile Gambling On The Rise In The UKThe UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) keeps a close eye on trends in both live and online gambling. In a recent report highlighted by iGamingBusiness, the UKGC shared that online gambling grew nearly 50% from 2008 to 2014.

While online gambling is increasing at a rapid rate, gambling as a whole is growing at a fairly steady level. What this means is that more gamblers are shifting from live gambling to online gambling.

Generally speaking, the National Lottery is still the most popular form of gambling in the UK but demonstrated a slight decline during the timeframe of the study. In 2008, the National Lottery accounted for 44% of overall gambling and by the end of 2014 accounted for 37.4% of gambling.

It is likely that the popularity of free online and electronic gaming has contributed to the level of comfort with gambling for money online.
