Through it all, one of the most vocal advocates for deregulating online gambling has been billionaire gambling tycoon Sheldon Adelson. And in a recent post on NJ.com, both sides of the ongoing, and expensive, debate were explored. While Adelson has stated that he will spend “whatever it takes” to stop online gambling, due to concerns of moral compromise, he has only invested $460,000 in his campaign thus far.

In a recent article on PokerUpdate, survey results were shared for “likely voters” in South Carolina.

South Carolina is a conservative state, so the comparably conservative findings were not a surprise. Nonetheless, of the 1,000 “likely voters” surveyed, online gambling was opposed by 68%. A similar survey by Palmetto Politics found that 15% surveyed were still undecided, while only 17% supported the idea of legal, regulated online gambling within the state.

According to published reports on Monday, Massachusetts will likely not see an online gambling expansion this year.

“The Massachusetts Senate is currently deliberating the state budget and chose to reject State Senator Michael F. Rush’s budgetary amendment that would have allowed the state lottery to expand into certain forms of online gambling,” one local report reads.

Winning Poker Network Waves the White Flag in U.S. Online Mobile Gambling 300x231 Winning Poker Network Waves the White Flag in U.S. Online, Mobile GamblingChris Grove of the Online Poker Report says Winning Poker Network (WPN) is “suspending the ability of customers” in the three U.S. states where online and mobile gambling is regulated and permissible (New Jersey, Nevada and Delaware) to play for real money at WPN.

The suspension, we’re told, is “effective immediately.” According to a statement from the company, the emergence of regulated options in these particular states provided the logic behind the network’s decision to close up shop. As a result, Grove continues, the “list of unregulated poker sites willing to serve customers in regulated American markets just got shorter by one.”
