Texas Lottery Taking a Closer Look at Online GamblingAlthough there’s no doubt that Texas isn’t moving quickly to adopt widespread regulated online gambling in the state, Texas lottery officials seemingly believe that the world of online gambling may benefit the appeal and marketing muscle of the state’s lottery.

According to a new report from CardPlayer, there’s a lot of speculation about what the Texas lottery may or may not do in the coming weeks, months, or years.

In fact, Texas lottery officials “recently visited Delaware to meet with that state’s lottery officials.”

Sounds like they’re on a fact-finding mission.

In a letter thanking the Delaware Lottery, Gary Grief, executive director of the Texas Lottery Commission, said that the Lone Star State could be interested in online gambling.

“We were extremely impressed with your operation,” Grief wrote, according to CardPlayer. “As I mentioned to you during our visit, the Delaware lottery is conducting advanced types of lottery games as compared to the rest of the country. We were particularly interested to learn about your sports betting, internet wagering and casino games […] We came away from our visit with an amazing amount of information that I know will be very helpful as our state begins to consider other forms of lottery games in the future.”
