There's No Money in Online, Mobile Gaming Think AgainOn November 6, Morris County resident Cathy Ruela won New Jersey’s largest online jackpot to date while playing the Millionaire Genie online slots—totaling just over $1.3 million dollars.

31 year-old Ruela used to travel to Atlantic City 2 or 3 times a year, but after receiving a promotional coupon for 20 free spins for Harrahscasino.com in February, she began playing online slots sporadically.

Her average deposit was $20 here and there, reports MyCentralJersey, and she was playing just for fun. The timing of this jackpot is perfect, being that it is so close to the one-year anniversary of online gambling being regulated in New Jersey, which was November 25, 2013.

Not only was this the largest online jackpot to date, but also the third largest gambling jackpot won during the 2014 calendar year.

Online gambling in New Jersey has only generated 10% of what the state had projected in its first year, so there is still much room to grow.

Ruela and her family will use the jackpot to pay off their mortgage, set up a college fund for their son, take a vacation and have a great Christmas.
