Will the legalization of online gambling in the states of New Jersey, Nevada, and Delaware spark a mobile device boom?
According to a new report from tech analyst Brian Moore of Moore-West Research, the birth of legalized online gambling will likely generate new mobile device sales in the three states that have permitted online real-money gambling.
“Playing poker or slots on a desktop or laptop doesn’t seem as appealing or convenient as playing on a tablet,” says Moore, who polled gamers in New Jersey, Nevada, and Delaware last week.
“10 percent of those surveyed expressed favoring their tablets for game-play and wanting to upgrade to a newer, faster device,” he continues.
The most popular mobile device for online poker, Moore found, is the new iPad Air.
Moore plans a follow-up to his new report in the spring, closely analyzing changes in tablet sales in markets where online gambling is now legal.
