Breaking news across the AP ticker on Wednesday indicates that the state of New Jersey was awarded the first official online gambling permit.
According to the report, Atlantic City’s Borgata is the recipient of the permit.
Fittingly, the state Division of Gaming Enforcement tells the AP, Borgata was also the first to file a complete application to offer online gambling.
It should be noted, however, that the casino will still be required to wait until the November 21st trial period begins to offer any form of online gambling. If all goes as planned, New Jersey residents and visitors will be allowed to participate in earnest in online gambling on November 26th.
Borgata president Tom Ballance says his company is committed to taking a leading role in Internet gambling.
