Boyd Gaming Proceeds with Online Gaming Testing in The Garden StateThis morning, Boyd Gaming Corporation confirmed that Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa has received authorization from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement to begin a trial launch of its real-money online gaming product in New Jersey.

As mGamingWatch has reported in recent weeks, New Jersey is proceeding with a 5-day trial period of online gaming before the scheduled November 26th formal statewide launch.

This evening, Borgata plans commence a “soft play” period on its online gaming sites.

“Soft play on the sites will be limited to invited customers and certain qualified Borgata team members,” a statement from the company reads. “Boyd Gaming’s online gaming partner, bwin.party digital entertainment plc, will also begin testing of its online gaming sites at this time.”

During this period, Borgata and bwin.party will be testing various features of the online gaming sites, including geo-location, customer identity verification, payment processing, and general game performance. Representatives of the DGE will closely monitor this process during the soft play period.

“The soft play period is an invaluable opportunity for us to test, review, practice and make enhancements to our technology and product offering,” says Bob Boughner, Executive Vice President and Chief Business Development Officer for Boyd Gaming. “We intend to be very methodical, careful and thorough throughout this process. Our objective is to make sure that Borgata’s real-money online gaming product meets the requirements of New Jersey regulators and the expectations of our customers.”
