Casino Marketers Buzzing Over NJ's First Online Poker ChampionshipIt’s a marketing moment casino officials in New Jersey have been eagerly anticipating. How will the marketing buzz leading up to the state’s first online poker championship influence the growth of online and mobile gaming in the Garden State? If all goes as planned, the reverberations could bode favorably for the state’s young online gaming industry.

The first ever New Jersey Championship of Online Poker will take place in April on Nj.partypoker.com and BorgataPoker.com, The Press of Atlantic City reports.

The event will take place from April 19 to April 27 with 15 tournaments guaranteeing $600,000. The online championship will coincide with the partypoker WPT World Championship live tournament at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, which runs from April 21 through April 26. This marks the first time the WPT World Championship tournament will be held outside of Las Vegas.

Just last week, the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement published eagerly-awaited revenue data for online gambling during the month of February.

All told, the market posted healthy gains of approximately 9%.

Although revenue didn’t exceed projections, market watchers say it’s more important that they didn’t miss projections.
