A 'Fine' First (But Minor) Mess for Online Gambling in New JerseyThe New Jersey Division of Gaming has officially issued its first fine to an online gambling company. What makes this fine unique is that the Caesars Interactive casino self-reported their violation once they realized it had occurred.

According to  NJ Poker Online  the $10,000 fine is related to the casino sending emails to 250 people on the state’s self-exclusion list, over a 4 month period. The casino’s back end system caught the glitch, and Caesar’s stepped up to the plate and reported the violation.

Violations of this nature occur in many industries across the board, most often due to a computer glitch or unintentional oversight.

Being that this is the only fine issued in the first 12 months of regulated online gambling, and that it is for a fairly minor and self-reported offense, regulated online gambling is still proving to be a responsible and reputable industry in New Jersey.
