Gaming Industry Mourns Loss of Bill O'HaraThe gaming world has lost one of the greats.

Bill O’Hara, the chief operating officer of Galaxy Gaming, passed away this week at the age of 83. Details surrounding the nature of his death weren’t made public.

“Bill O’Hara was a pioneer in our industry and a true legend among both his peers and the literally thousands of people who learned from him and followed his example,” said Robert Saucier, CEO of Galaxy Gaming. “Las Vegas has lost a historic figure. We have lost a great friend.”

A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, O’Hara spent much of his career filling key roles in companies inside and outside of Las Vegas, though all were important to the gaming industry.

An original executive of Shuffle Master Gaming, O’Hara joined Galaxy Gaming in 2008, helping the organization successfully transition into a publicly traded company.

“Everywhere you look on the floor of any major casino all over America or throughout the world, you can see something that Bill O’Hara helped build,” Saucier said. “In an industry known as much for complex regulation as it is for creative innovation, Bill understood both in almost unprecedented ways.”
