Long Awaited Online, Mobile Gambling Legislation on the Horizon in MexicoThe negotiations relating to new online gambling laws between Mexico’s National Action Party and the Party of the Democratic Revolution have been ongoing for the last several months.

While the goal was to have the new legislation sent to parliament by late September, the two parties have just come to an agreement.

The gambling legislation in question will create an entirely new framework for both live and online gambling, all of which is designed to decrease money laundering in the nation.

While the proposed changes are not yet passed and in effect, many predict that two of the legislation’s many changes will be significant, including: (1) the gambling age will be raised to 21 years of age and (2) there will be new regulations regarding the “mini casinos” that have popped up throughout Mexico in the last several years.

MGW will provide further updates on Mexico’s anticipated embrace of online gambling as the story develops in the weeks ahead.
