New Jersey The Countdown is on for Online GamblingFor those closely monitoring the situation, all signs point to New Jersey remaining on schedule to begin offering online gambling by November 26th.

Donald Wittkowski of Press of Atlantic City reports that the state Division of Gaming Enforcement maintains that online gambling will commence after a “test period” for the participating Atlantic City casinos and their respective Web partners.

If all goes well during the “soft play” starting on November 21st, Internet gambling will begin in earnest at 9 a.m. on November 26th.

Without question, next month’s introduction of online gambling in New Jersey represents a critical step forward for this young industry and a likely sign of expanded online gaming opportunities for the remainder of the decade.

Per the established guidelines in New Jersey, gamers will be able to use their home computers, smartphones or tablets to play online, but only if they are located within the Garden State’s borders during gameplay.

“The Division of Gaming Enforcement said safeguards are built into the digital system to restrict play within New Jersey and prevent children or banned gamblers from playing online,” Wittkowski says.
