PokerStars Finds a Potential 'In' Back Into The US Online Gambling MarketPokerStars is a globally recognized online gaming giant that dominates 54% of the global online gambling industry.

In an unexpected move, Amaya Gaming Group acquired PokerStars, a strategic move to consolidate the online and live gaming industry.

The acquisition did not come cheap at $4.9 billion dollars. And while PokerStars comes with global online gambling brand recognition, they also come with some baggage.

In fact, as the Las Vegas Review Journal reports, in 2006 PokerStars paid a whopping $731 million dollar settlement to the United States Government for their illegal online gambling operation.

However, PokerStars is now working on expanding their licensing within the United States for both state-regulated and tribal gambling partnerships to recapture some of the US online gambling market they once had.

This move will take time, but PokerStars and Amaya Gaming are well positioned to dominate the global online and live gambling industry.
