Pro-Casino Group Launches Site In Support of Proposed Mohegan Sun CasinoAccording to published reports, voteyesforpalmer.com has finally made its anticipated debut.

Offering additional support, there is also a Facebook page of the same name.

The site was created in support of the Mohegan Sun’s plan to build a $1 billion resort casino off Massachusetts Turnpike Exit 8.

Jennifer L. Baruffaldi, spokeswoman for the pro-casino group, Citizens for Jobs and Growth in Palmer, says intent of the site is to inform residents of the upcoming vote.  No date for the vote is currently set, but there is potential to hold a referendum in September.

The Facebook page states that the pro-casino group will meet August 12 in preparation of a September referendum.  The location of the meeting is to be determined.

So far, Springfield voters have already authorized the host community agreement  between the city and MGM Resorts International.  For any casino project to be considered by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, a positive vote is needed.

Last week, there was a special meeting held by West Springfield city officials to determine a date for referendum vote on the Hard Rock International bid to build an $800 million casino on the Eastern States Exposition fairgrounds.

The casino proposals that pass referendum votes in their host communities will go to the Massachusetts Gaming Commission to determine which company gets the region’s lone casino license.
