Tropicana Awarded NJ's 5th Internet Gambling PermitJoining such Atlantic City Boardwalk heavyweights in Atlantic City as the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, the Golden Nugget Atlantic City, Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino and the Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort, it was announced Monday that the Tropicana has been awarded the 5th Internet gambling permit in the state of New Jersey.

Online gambling in New Jersey is scheduled to begin this Saturday, November 26th.

Along with Nevada and Delaware, New Jersey is just the third state in the nation to offer legal online gambling.

According to the Associated Press, the Tropicana has teamed up with Gamesys Limited, which runs jackpotjoy.com.

Although it isn’t clear as to the order in which these and other casino and gaming operators applied for their licenses, Lisa Spengler, a spokeswoman for the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, says there is no competitive advantage to being issued a permit early as “the launch date is the same for all casinos.”

More permits are expected to be granted in the coming weeks.
