Is Yahoo Positioning Itself for Online PokerThere are no shortages of places where you can play free online poker, but as more states contemplate regulating online gambling, more tech and gaming firms are searching for ways to capture a piece of the pie. Currently online poker is only legal and regulated in Delaware, Nevada, and New Jersey, but at least seven other states are seriously weighing the pros and cons.

While most tech and gaming firms that offer regulated online gambling through a Delaware, Nevada, or New Jersey casino are firms already familiar with the gaming industry, Yahoo appears to be eager to learn and enter the mix.

Recently Yahoo launched an online poker portal, making it look as if they are positioning themselves to be prepared for legalized gambling too. Currently they only offer Texas Hold ‘em, but they have also positioned themselves for regulated sports betting with their Fantasy Football.

“Yahoo has done well by using gaming such as fantasy football to build the brand by selling advertising on these gaming pages to top companies from around the world,” reports 4Flush. “While Yahoo may look at the online poker portal as an additional way to build revenues, online poker players will have yet another option for enjoying the game if real money options are put into play in the future.”
