Zynga Poker’s Rapid User Loss Impacts The Entire Online Social Gaming IndustryCompetition is fierce when it comes to mobile casino apps, and mobile casino apps are so popular that mobile is now negatively impacting the online social gaming industry.

While the Zynga Poker app once dominated the online social gaming space, last year alone Zynga lost 44% of their users. While their revenues did not reflect such a rapid decline, and they still have over 20 million monthly players, their loss is impacting the online social gaming industry as a whole.

According to Venture Beat, which cited the market analyst firm SuperData Research, social poker revenues will continue to drop from $203 million in 2013 to $156 million by the end of 2017. Aside from the drastic drop in revenues, the vast majority of gamers will move to mobile devices and off of the once wildly popular PC social casinos.

In fact, it is the ever-growing mobile casino apps that allow gamers to play for free, that is causing the drastic shift within the industry. More and more players are moving to one of the many free apps, most of which allow for many free gaming options—and who charge less for upgrades.
