Casino Industry Closely Watching VR BoomThis week, all eyes are on virtual reality at Mobile World Congress. And, so too, are the eyes of casino marketers.

“There may come a day when casino regulars prefer to strap on a headset and gamble instead of going out into the physical casino,” one independent marketing analyst from Chicago told reporters in Barcelona this week. “Virtual reality could create some rich new opportunities in the gaming world.”

For now, however, the VR news is all about the hardware.

As expected, Samsung just launched the newest additions to the Galaxy family of products this week at MWC. But the news didn’t come without a VR component.

“The rumor mill was vindicated on Sunday when Samsung confirmed a huge virtual reality-related incentive to get the newest Samsung flagship smartphone as soon as possible,” reports VRJournal. “Consumers who preorder or purchase a Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge between February 23 and March 18 will receive free Gear VR and a 6-game bundle, which amounts to about $150 worth of bonus goodies.”
