Nevada Online Gambling to Stay Focused on PokerThe focus on poker in online gambling in Nevada is not expected to change, admit sources close to the Nevada Gaming Commission.

The commission, however, is discussing – at this hour – several changes to the state’s Internet gaming regulations. The talks are taking place at the commission’s regular monthly meeting in Las Vegas.

Current expectations do not call for the addition of other casino games – Blackjack, slot machines, etc. – to permissible online gambling activities in the state.

The Las Vegas Reiew Journal says Gaming Control Board Chairman A.G. Burnett confirms there are no plans for the state to “move beyond Internet poker.”

Burnett said there might be some confusion on the matter because New Jersey plans to launch its real money Internet gaming by the end of November. The activity, which is tied to Atlantic City casinos, will include casino games and slot machines in addition to poker.

“We’re only six months into poker,” Burnett says, according to the RJ report. “For now, we want to prove out poker first… Nevada is poker only. That was the legislative intent from the beginning and the board has no plans to do anything otherwise.”
