According to Poker News Daily, Paddy Power is readying the first real money sports betting Facebook app.
Power In-Play! is in beta and will continue to be when it launches in the UK within the next couple of weeks.
“The app will add social engagement to online betting, enabling customers to bet on a wide variety of sporting events through Facebook, while also giving them visibility of, and the opportunity to engage with, other users,” the company says.
Upon launch, Paddy Power In-Play! won’t have any mobile versions available. It will only be accessible through a desktop computer. Paddy Power has asserted that strict age verification measures will be enforced.
Social B CEO Lynsey Sweales thinks there is a potential for increased sales and brand recognition saying: “There are strict legal guidelines with gambling, but a company can see what people are talking about and can tap that space.”
The sports betting app would not be the first real money gambling app available on Facebook. Bingo Friendzy, a real money bingo game produced by Gamesys, went live August of 2012.
Managing Director of Paddy Power Online, Peter O’Donovan, said that the upcoming launch is a “testament to Paddy Power’s e-commerce and technology capabilities as well as our international industry leadership position in social media.”
