Virgin Group Enters Online Gambling ArenaThe Virgin Group is preparing to open its new online gambling site in New Jersey this week.

Despite ample concern about how quickly the online gambling market in New Jersey would grow, more than 150,000 Internet gambling accounts were created in the Garden State in less than eight weeks.

Now, Virgin Group has its sights set on this potentially very lucrative market.

Virgin Casino is one of 15 Internet gambling sites given the regulatory green light. New Jersey is the third state to allow online gaming, joining Nevada and Delaware.

“In the last five weeks of 2013, the websites brought in just $8.4 million in revenue,” CBS News reported Tuesday. “But for 2014, revenue is expected to jump to as much as $500 million. And Gov. Chris Christie is hopeful the tally can climb to $1 billion.”

According to the AP, Virgin, which has partnered with Gamesys, was previously compelled to delay its gaming site following an array of login and payment issues, which we’re told have now been resolved.
