British Bookmaker William Hill Withdrawals Online Service From ChinaAccording to MacauBusinessDaily, British Bookmaker William Hill has withdrawn its online service from China.  Hill referred to “regulatory reasons beyond their control” for the decision to back out.

The decision also applies to customers in Hong Kong and Macau.  William Hill stopped taking Hong Kong bets several years ago at the request of the government.

A monopoly founded by Stanley Ho Hung Sun, Sociedade de Lotarias e Apostas Mútuas de Macau Lda, is the only organization allowed to domestically operate an online portal for betting on sporting events.

Hill’s evacuation of China corresponds with its development in the United States.

Hill is currently awaiting a Third Circuit Court of Appeal’s decision on whether to allow cash wagering in U.S. sporting events outside of Nevada.
