Foreign Online Gambling Companies May Set Sights on New JerseyGenerating more than a few rumblings across the online gaming community in the Garden State, a New Jersey Senate panel has given the green light to a bill that, if passed into law, would enable foreign online gambling operators to set up shop in New Jersey.

Once licensed and partnered with an existing Atlantic City casino, the companies could then offer gambling, as well as online poker, in countries where it is legal.

“The measure… has a chance to revitalize struggling Atlantic City as an online gaming hotbed,” Cardplayer.com reports.

State Senator Ray Lesniak is the leading proponent of this effort, saying that such a move could “help make New Jersey the leader in online gaming, across the country and around the world.”

“We could be the Silicon Valley for high-tech gaming,” he added.

As of this writing, it isn’t clear if or when the measure might advance further.
