The Garden State Awards More Online Gambling LicensesSources in the state of New Jersey say more online gambling licenses have been awarded to gaming companies, with more on the way in the coming weeks.

Over the weekend, Reuters confirmed that the state gaming authorities provided “transactional waivers,” which are not free passes from additional regulatory scrutiny, to firms that include the parent of PartyPoker, 888 Holdings, and the online affiliate of Las Vegas’ Caesars’ Entertainment Corp.

As expected, New Jersey has not yet awarded an online gambling license to PokerStars.

PokerStars spokesman Eric Hollreiser said the company’s New Jersey application “remains under review” and that “we remain committed to working with them to complete the process.”

Nonetheless, excitement is rampant in New Jersey ahead of the scheduled November 26th launch of legalized online gambling.

“We’re excited to see the launch of internet gaming in New Jersey,” says American Gaming Association Chief Executive Geoff Freeman. “New Jersey will send a strong message to all states.”
