How is New Jersey ahead of NevadaWith New Jersey set to push an online gambling bill into effect before the end of the year, some have to wonder what is going on in Nevada that is holding up the process.

In an article by Steve Larson on legaluspokersites.com, the question is raised as to how New Jersey is avoiding the same hold-ups as Nevada and how this affects the image of Nevada, especially to residents.

One of the reasons why New Jersey may be able to pass the online gambling bill and have real-money gambling both in place before the year ends, as Larson notes, may be because based on interviews with David Rebuck, head of New Jersey’s Division of Gaming Enforcement, they have planning for this a couple years now and began seriously eying it in 2011 when “after the Department of Justice issued their memo regarding a re-interpretation of the Wire Act.”

It may have been assumed that because Nevada was the first to regulate online poker that the online gambling field was theirs to define.

But as Larson states, not only is New Jersey ahead of Nevada but so is Delaware. The lagging ability to beat out New Jersey to online gambling means that Nevada may no longer be the epicenter of cutting edge in the American gambling world.
