Online Gambling Expansion Could Bring Good Jobs to LouisvilleThe Courier-Journal of Louisville, Kentucky is reporting that Churchill Downs Inc. may create dozens of new jobs that pay an average salary of $100,000 due to its expanded online gaming ambitions.

The casino and racetrack company received Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority approval this week for $1 million in tax incentives to create these new well-paying positions.

A statement issued by company Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Bob Evans said the additional Louisville jobs would be tied to Churchill’s hopes to offer Internet gambling as its legality is clarified by the federal government or individual states.

The statement explains that the new employees would be “simply part of that effort and expands the technology team we already have based in Lexington, Ky., and Mountain View, Calif.”

Of the approx. 50 jobs that would be created as a direct result of these aims, the company did not delve into position specifics other than noting that the jobs would all be technology-based.
