Online Gambling Sees Soft Launch in Delaware This WeekThe green light has been given and all paths have now been cleared for takeoff.

Starting this week, Delaware lottery officials are ushering in their state’s era of real-money Internet gambling. But, as the AP reported Tuesday, they are doing so with an element of secrecy.

State lottery director Vernon Kirk said Tuesday that officials will conduct a “soft launch” of online gambling on Thursday with a select group of preferred players.

According to the same report, Kirk isn’t saying who the players are and how they will be tapped to participate in the experimental soft launch.

All information pertinent to the soft launch is being kept confidential.

“Kirk’s remarks came after a meeting of the state Video Lottery Advisory Council, an industry group that says Delaware’s casinos are suffering financially and plans to push lawmakers to change current models for sharing revenue with the state,” the AP confirms.
