Task Force Is Gathered To Take An In-Depth Look At Online GamblingIn a recent announcement, the state of Mississippi’s chief gambling regulator is gathering a group to take an in-depth look at online gambling, sports betting, and gambling as a whole. Initially the intent was to look at online gambling and online sports betting only, but due to the demand, and close relationship of live gambling—the task force will gather data for all three forms of gambling.

The Executive Director of Mississippi Gaming Commission Allen Godfrey is the chairman of the task force. He has taken on the project as a request of state Rep. Richard Bennett, R-Long Beach. Bennett—who is the Chairman of the House Gaming Committee.

The task forces’ job is to take an unbiased look at the many different aspects of online gambling and online sports betting. This will include both the pros and the cons for gamblers and for state’s earning revenue.

The goal of the task force is not to endorse gambling, but to gather data that can be used by states across the nation who are considering introducing any form of gambling. The task force will only be gathering data, and will not be making suggestions or recommendations for any new types of regulatory actions or legislation.

The task force will begin gathering data in the three states where online gambling is legal—Nevada, New Jersey, and Delaware. There are many aspects of online gambling that will be taken into consideration—such as whether or not the software is as secure as it claims to be, how each state successfully controls gambling addiction, underage gambling, and limiting access to in-state gamblers only.
