Texas Takes a 'Time-Out' on Online GamblingIs Texas about to throw its hat into the online gambling arena? Not so fast, according to well-placed political sources inside of the Lone Star State.

Texas Governor Rick Perry has made his stance on the matter quite clear, despite the growing interest among Texas who want to play online poker for real-money.
Governor Perry, on the other hand, is calling on Congress to put an end to online gambling at the federal level.

In a letter to Congressional leaders and the House and Senate Judiciary committees sent Monday, Perry asked Congress to reverse a 2011 Department of Justice interpretation of the Wire Act that opened the door to legalized online gambling in the states.

“Congress needs to step in now and call a ‘time-out’ by restoring the decades-long interpretation of the Wire Act,” Perry wrote in the letter, which was obtained by The Hill.

Although it doesn’t appear that the Federal government will ban online gambling, U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) are purportedly planning to introduce a bill in the coming days that would achieve the objective advocated by Governor Perry, a prospective 2016 presidential candidate.
