World Series of Poker Main Event Starts TonightNine players from five countries are in Las Vegas tonight for the World Series of Poker main event.

Five Americans, along with four other players from France, the Netherlands, Israel and Canada, are the only players left standing – or sitting – from the 6,352 entrants at the no-limit Texas Hold ‘em main event in July.

Tonight at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, these individuals will settle the title over two days of consecuritive play.

A champion is expected to be crowned Tuesday night or early Wednesday.

Seven players will become millionaires and even the first player eliminated will take home $733,000.

“This may be the most skilled nine players at the final table,” spokesman Seth Palansky said today. “You expect that after the initial jitters, these guys will not be making amateur mistakes.”
