Efforts To Curb Off-Shore Online Gambling Are Paying OffOne of the primary factors Nevada, New Jersey, and Delaware have adopted online gambling is the multiple millions of dollars in annual income that gambling taxes stand to generate. While each state must go to great lengths to ensure that out-of-state gamblers are not able to access their online gambling websites, they must also invest time and resources in curbing illegal off-shore gambling.

One of the many reasons states such as New Jersey believe that they are not yet meeting their projected revenue goals is because they are losing substantial sums each month to unregulated out of state or out of country online gambling sites. The fact of the matter is that many online gamers simply do not know how to tell if a site is regulated or unregulated.

Just because a site is unregulated does not mean it is scamming gamblers out of the money they invest. However, they are infringing upon gambling regulations in the US, and breaking the law.

Fortunately, efforts to curb illegal and unregulated gambling are starting to pay off. Recently, New Jersey Director of Gaming Enforcement David Rebuck sent a cease and desist letter to unregulated online gambling sites that target New Jersey gamblers, And many unregulated casinos are voluntarily bowing out.

By 2020 it is expected that US online gamblers will spend $8 billion dollars annually. Just how much of that goes to US based casinos will depend on how well states that legalize online gambling are able to educate gamblers regarding regulated sites, as well as block the unwelcome off-shore casinos.
