On Monday, reports surfaced that International Game Technology is actively considering strategic options including but not limited to a sale of the company.
The company’s board and management, the WSJ confirms, are “currently exploring strategic options for the casino-game maker.”
In the coming days and weeks, it’s unlikely the company will share any additional details about the ongoing considerations. All signs point to the company only disclosing developments once concrete decisions have been made.
The rumor mill has been persistent, however, in churning out reports that the casino-game maker will be acquired in the near future.
All told, the latest round of acquisition speculation doesn’t come as a surprise. Earlier this year, IGT revealed plans to slash its global workforce by 7% due to ongoing cost-cutting efforts.
