Marketing Muscle of Online Gambling Wins Another Pro Sports TeamAs mGamingWatch reported in February, the Philadelphia 76ers of the NBA and the New Jersey Devils of the NHL recently became the first major U.S.-based professional teams to sign a sponsorship deal with an online gambling company.

But that list is growing longer.

New Jersey Caesars Interactive Entertainment, owned by gambling website WSOP.com, has just scored a sponsorship deal with the NHL’s New York Rangers.

“We look forward to being part of the stretch run and educating tri-state area Rangers fans on this exciting new offering available to both residents and visitors in New Jersey,” says Michael Staskin, a marketing executive for Caesars Interactive Entertainment. “We will show Rangers and Knicks fans just how easy it is to score from home on WSOP.com and CaesarsCasino.com.”

The buzz around online gambling in the U.S. has created a whirlwind of marketing opportunities that many prominent companies, brands, and sports teams want to tap into through sponsorship deals.

But domestic casino and gaming giants have always had an interest in sports, and the trend shows no sign of reversing in 2014.

“We are excited to have the Rangers partner with this brand new category and industry leader WSOP.com to provide our passionate and loyal fans the opportunity to win some very unique experiences and prizes,” says Dave Howard, President of Madison Square Garden Sports.
