Marketing Pays Off for Online Poker in NevadaFollowing a gargantuan marketing push for online poker in the state of Nevada in recent months, it’s now clear that the effort has paid off with noticeable and pronounced dividends.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board has just published gambling figures for the month of May. All told, the data shows better than an 8% spike in revenues to $970.3 million.

B. Solomon of Online Poker News reports that, carved out from the above revenue, online poker contributed $862,000 in May, a significant jump over April’s total of $792,000.

“The Silver State then collected $56.2 million in gaming taxes, which was 2.43% lower than the same month last year,” Solomon writes, adding that the 2014 World Series of Poker taking place Las Vegas coupled with its WSOP.com cross-promotional campaign “has helped provide the Silver State’s online poker market with a much-needed boost.”
