History was made in the state of Pennsylvania this week as state senator Edwin B. Erickson officially introduced a bill that could usher in the era of regulated online gambling in Pennsylvania.

With revenue from land-based properties and online casino platforms struggling to make headway as the second half of 2014 looms on the horizon, casino and gaming industry marketers are turning their marketing efforts toward more highly targeted markets.

Despite not being a federally regulated market, the online and mobile gambling industry in the U.S. remains big business. As illustrated in New Jersey, Delaware, and Nevada, where said gaming is regulated and permissible under state law, there is vast potential for real money online and mobile gambling to grow like wildfire in the years ahead.

Private owners of the state operated casino at Twin River want lawmakers to increase the subsidy for the casino’s marketing efforts in Rhode Island from $3.7 million to $7.3 million a year, reports Providence Journal. They argue that more marketing money will mean more revenue for the facility and state. They ask lawmakers to back a bill that would potentially double the state’s share of those costs.
