History was made in the state of Pennsylvania this week as state senator Edwin B. Erickson officially introduced a bill that could usher in the era of regulated online gambling in Pennsylvania.
SB 1386 was sent to the Community, Economic & Recreational Development Committee yesterday.
If passed into law, the bill will let Pennsylvania secure interactive gaming agreements with other US states where online gambling is currently regulated and legal.
As of this writing, those territories are limited to just three other states – New Jersey, Delaware, and Nevada.
“There’s still technically time to work online poker into the budget process, but with the deadline looming at month’s end, chances for that path grow shorter by the day,” says Chris Grove of Online Poker Report. “Good news on that front: Gov. Tom Corbett indicated today that he’d be comfortable with a late budget. Once that’s wrapped up, lawmakers head home for several weeks before returning for a brief fall session starting in mid-September.”
