New Macau Website Exposes Gamblers That Don't Pay Their DebtsFailing to pay a gambling debt could now result in public shame and infamy inside the world’s most populous nation.

Gamblers who fail to pay off their casino debts in Macau could be exposed publicly by a website that, through a degree of public shame, has helped to recover millions in previously unpaid debts.

But the novel strategy to combat bad debts in the world’s largest gambling destination is under scrutiny from the police for possibly breaking the law and from the Chinese territory’s gaming authority over privacy concerns.

According to a new report from Reuters, the bilingual website offers up a blacklist sporting dozens of names of gamblers residing in China who supposedly fell short of their financial obligations.

Photographs of accused deadbeats are posted next to their names along with other personal details. In some cases, bounties for the discovery of their whereabouts are advertised.

Macau is the only place in China where casinos are permitted.
