Online and Gambling Lobby Just Getting WarmWith online gambling expected to be legalized next year in more states, the lobbying community behind this powerful and emerging young industry is expected to grow substantially.

As of late 2013, we’re already seeing the strength of lobbyists in this field balloon by the day.

Just last month, a report in The Hill declared that “it’s time for the gaming industry to go on offense in Washington,” citing the tone set by the new chief of the American Gaming Association.

“It’s time for us to make that transition from being more of a defensive organization to being one that is trying to put some goals up on the board,” Geoff Freeman told The Hill. “The next-generation association is trying to figure out how do we help make the industry grow? How do we advance our agenda, not just defend or protect the status quo?”

Some estimates suggest that the online gambling lobby could triple in size by the end of 2014.

Speaking to the aims of his organization, Freeman says the AGA needs “to help policymakers see the industry as the economic engine that it can be.”

And the “economic engine” is so potentially lucrative that the lobbyist pool will soon be more crowded than anyone would have imagined only a short time ago.
