Washington Post Multiple States Actively Considering Online Gambling for 2014First there were three. Next, there may be thirteen.

Potentially joining Delaware, Nevada, and New Jersey among states that have legalized online gambling are several more U.S. states that could act on the issue before year’s end. According to a new report from The Washington Post, upwards of ten states will likely consider legalizing online gambling in 2014.

Although inaction is expected on the national level during this election year, taking up the debate on real money Internet gambling won’t be as controversial for many states.

Many lobbyists “expect to see movement to consider legislation that would authorize or expand Internet gambling” in California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Mississippi, and Pennsylvania.

The same Washington Post report cites a prediction from GamblingData which maintains that New Jersey’s online gambling market will generate $262 million in gross gambling revenue this year before climbing to $463 million by 2017.
